New Users Quick Start.

 

To make your first usage of Casper as easy as possible we will lead you through a simple find procedure that displays an exisitng staff member's phone numbers.

Logging in to Casper:

Double-click the Casper icon as you have been shown. You will see a login dialog like this:

You will have been provided with a Name and Password. Enter these and click OK (or press the enter key).

Main Menu: Provided your login is accepted, the Main Menu will appear.
Personnel Details:

You should now click on the Personnel Details button.

The Personnel Screen will be displayed. Usually Narendra Anturkar's record appears as the first in alphabetical order. The number of records currently available is shown at the bottom of the screen (in the Record Navigator) like this:

Finding a particular person's record:

Now try to find Amy Chapman's record. Type 'Chapman' into the Find box like this:

Click on the FIND button.

The result may show: (see the Record Navigator)

  • 0 records if there are no 'Chapmans' left on the system.

  • 1 record for Amy Chapman - PIN CH007 or

  • more than one record if there is more than one Chapman on the system. At the time of writing there was also a Trevor Chapman so the record counter shows 2 records found.

 

Further notes on Finding:

  • Use the Record Navigator to scroll through records to the one you want to browse.

  • Wild Cards - use find text like 'Chap*' to find employees with name beginning with 'Chap'. The asterisk (*) can be used at either end of find text but not in the middle!

Telephone Numbers: Clearly the most useful single piece of information is displayed in the 'Telephone' tab. most users will be quite happy just to find the phone numbers!
Browsing a record:

The 'Tabbed Dialog Box' is labelled with the various types of data stored per record:

Clicking on the various tabs displays the associated data for the current record.

Note that the person's name remains constant just above the tabbed dialog. That remains the common association as you browse other details.

NOTE: Some users are restricted in their access to personnel data and so cannot see some tab features.
